Technology Lesson Reflection

 Before taking this class I had no idea what an LMS was and how to create an online classroom. I decided to use Google Classroom to create my Learning Management System (LMS) for my online classroom.  I had struggled so much, it was my first time creating an LMS. Creating and setting up my Google Classroom was a struggle. I felt very intimated when I started working on the LMS assignment. I would set up my classroom but then delete it because I didn't like how it looked and it was not working how I wanted it to. But after many tries, I was able to do it. I know with future practice I can improve. Within my LMS I added a video from the science website called "Generation Genius," created discussion boards with Google Jamboard,  provided Google Docs where the students can type out their notes and vocabulary words, created a Google form for the students to take their assessment and provided a game that is related to the lesson. I tried my best to use the gradual release model and the 5c's within my LMS. Incorporating the gradual release model and the 5c's was my biggest struggle. Even though I struggled to create my LMS, I had fun creating the banner for my Google Classroom, creating my welcome message for my students, and coming up with a name for my classroom. My tip for future teachers is to make sure you know your goals for you and your students. Make sure you create/have a comfortable environment even though the class is online. Before creating your online classroom make sure to study/understand the application you are going to use, see which apps can work within your online classroom and it's simple for the students to navigate. Have and use your learning objective, organize your lesson and classroom, and use the gradual release model. My biggest tip is to make sure the students are engaged and will stay engaged throughout the school year. Overall knowing what an LMS is and now knowing how to create one is an amazing thing to know. It was a struggle but it was worth it. I never knew about any of this but now I do. This is something I hope I can use one day in my future classroom.
